Man, look! Do I have a good one for y’all! The MLB trade deadline just passed, so Brett and Danny came through to break it all down. We had an absolute blast talking about the Dodgers ruining baseball, the Big Dumper’s big slump, when to give up on a headliner at a concert, and more! Do yourself a favor and tap in!

Now, to the sports!

  • Little League Softball World Series: Coverage begins at 1:00 pm (ET) on ESPN

Two quarterfinal games on the docket as Lake Mary, FL takes on Clayton, NC first, then Puerto Rico faces off with Owensboro, KY in the 5:00 pm slot. Before this tournament was given as much attention, girls would sometimes participate in the boys’ side of things. You may remember Mo’ne Davis, who became the first girl to win a game as a pitcher in the Little League Baseball World Series back in 2014. Davis now stars for the Los Angeles Queens in the recently launched Women’s Pro Baseball League. Games are streamed on ESPN’s app! Make sure you tune in after the national anthem.

  • NFL Preseason:  Carolina Panthers vs. Arizona Cardinals at 8:00 pm (ET) on NBC

The Hall of Fame game! This game always acted as the two-minute warning for summer back when I was a child. 2026 Pro Football Hall of Fame enshrinee and former Cardinal WR, Larry Fitzgerald, is someone I would have watched back then. The first thing that comes to mind for me about Fitzgerald (after the fact that he was one of the league’s elite receivers) is his relationship with his parents.

Fitzgerald’s trademark dreads were grown out as a tribute to his mother, who passed away in 2003 from breast cancer. His dad was a longtime sportswriter and is thought to be the first to cover their son in a Super Bowl. Here’s a nice article from The Athletic about what this enshrinement means for Fitzgerald after losing his dad a couple of months ago.

  • Little League Softball World Series: Coverage begins at 3:00 pm (ET) on ESPN2

Snohomish, Washington and Toms River, New Jersey will each be taking on somebody! That’s all of the info I’ve got for you, though.

  • WNBA: Phoenix Mercury @ Connecticut Sun at 7:30 pm (ET) on ION

Game 3 of the Kelsey Plum Era for Phoenix! What can we expect? Lucky for you, I talk about it in this episode:

  • WNBA: Las Vegas Aces @ Minnesota Lynx at 1:00 pm (ET) on CBS

Spoiler alert, but I also talk about these two teams a great deal in the episode above, because, well, they’re the best two teams in the league. The last time they played, the stars showed up and showed out as the Aces held on for a 3-point win. There will be even more star power in the mix this time around with Napheesa Collier back for the Lynx. Do yourself a favor and tap in!

  • Little League Softball World Series: Coverage begins at 3:00 pm (ET) on ESPN2

Semifinal action! Can’t really tell you who is playing if they haven’t played the quarterfinals yet, but that’s okay!

  • Soccer: Guadalajara vs. FC Dallas at 9:00 pm (ET) on FS1

Y’all thought I forgot about the Leagues Cup? Not at all! Now, do I know anything about either club? Not at all! But that’s why we’re watching, so join me!

  • Little League Softball World Series: Championship Game coverage begins at 3:00 pm (ET) on ABC

The United States has won every title since this competition began back in 1974. Probably time for another country to come through, right? We’ll see, but I’m glad they have this one on ABC!

  • WNBA: Dallas Wings @ Minnesota Lynx at 3:30 pm (ET) on NBC

While you’re watching that, make sure to check in on this one. They’re working the damn Lynx to death, so it could be a good opportunity for the Wings to steal a win in a Paige Bueckers Homecoming Game! While I’m here, I forgot to mention in that WNBA episode above that I was shocked no teams traded for Dallas’ Maddy Siegrist. She’s a bucket-getter, and I know some teams that could use some buckets.

  • MLB: Houston Astros @ San Diego Padres at 8:20 pm (ET) on NBC

I hate the Astros as much as any self-respecting baseball fan, but it’s hard to hate on the season Yordan Alvarez is having. There’s a lot of season left, but the Cuban slugger appears headed for the first Triple Crown season since Miguel Cabrera did it in 2012. Alvarez has a chance to up the ante on this historic achievement by hitting 50 homers, too. Yankees legend Mickey Mantle is the only player in MLB history to reach that mark in a Triple Crown season. As of right now, Alvarez is 15 homers away, and I hope he gets them all against the Padres.

  • MLB: Philadelphia Phillies @ St. Louis Cardinals at 7:45 pm (ET) on FS1

As we discuss in the episode at the top of the newsletter, both of these teams made some moves as they attempt to secure an NL Wild Card spot. It’s fun to grade how those deals look on paper, but what matters is the results they produce on the field. As a bonus, you get a Home Run Derby rematch between Kyle Schwarber and Jordan Walker!

  • Little League Baseball World Series: Coverage begins at 3:00 pm (ET) on ESPN and ESPN2

Right into the boys’ side of things! Along with the NFL’s Hall of Fame game, this also signified the end of summer for me as a child. As for my own childhood baseball career, I played a couple of practices of Coach Pitch before retiring due to no-see-ums and my mom’s seasonal allergies. What could have been! Tune in to see some kids who are apparently a bit more passionate about this than I was. The 3 o’clock game is on ESPN, then switch over to ESPN2 for the 7 o’clock matchup.

  • WNBA: New York Liberty @ Indiana Fever at 7:30 pm (ET) on ESPN

Or hang tight on ESPN and watch this one! I feel like we’ve had this conversation the past 3 summers where we are once again reminded that the Fever are at their best when Kelsey Mitchell is the #1 scoring option. Their recent 7-2 run has been their most impressive stretch of the season, and surprise surprise, Mitchell has led the way. In those 9 games, she’s averaged 28.1 PPG on 53% from the field and a blistering 50% from 3. Let’s talk about this again next season.

  • Little League Baseball World Series: Coverage begins at 7:00 pm (ET) on ESPN2

For most of these kids, this will be the highlight of their baseball careers. And what a highlight it is! But some go on to even bigger and better things. Red Sox CF Ceddanne Rafaela played for Curaçao when they made it to the 3rd round of the 2012 Little League World Series. He earned his first MLB All-Star appearance this year, and has been instrumental in Boston’s incredible turnaround. Tap in and see if you can spot the next MLB star!

  • MLB: Texas Rangers @ Los Angeles Angels at 10:00 pm (ET) on ESPN

Danny Foxworth is a Rangers fan and tells a hilarious story about going to see them play this summer in the podcast episode at the top!
